Inspiration Should Be Renewable
I’ve written about it in the past, extensively, and I feel like there is always more I could say about the movie: 180 South.
Every layer to the movie moves me. Every re-watching of it changes the way I move and operate. Every time I see the statues of Easter Island or the native people marching to the capitol to fight for their rights, my own sights are trued up a little more and I have a better idea of what I’m aiming for.
The movie came out nearly 10 years ago. It says a lot that it can still inspire people today.
The Monkey Wrench Gang came out eons ago, and it’s still bringing people to fight against environmental injustice.
There’s always something new coming out, a lot of it is very good, but the thing that inspires you should be a little bit timeless. It should hold up to dozens of repeat viewings.
You should also probably have it in a hard copy somewhere so you can always watch it and be re-inspired by it again and again.
Digital mediums tend to evaporate like that. You never know when a stream reduces to a dribble.
