Entertainers & Influencers

Entertainers & Influencers

It used to mean something to have influence over someone.

Like a politician or a cult leader. Conversations could be had with certain people that would, in turn, make your life better or worse.

Influencer has a vastly different meaning in today’s culture, and the definition continues to change.

It used to be - show our product to your five million followers so they will buy it.

Then - why aren’t they buying it?

You can have an audience without having influence over them. Most of us will always have more of an impact over five particular people than we will over one-thousand strangers. This is what MLMs bank on.

If someone is watching you and listening to you, but what you do and say has no impact on the choices they make in their life, you aren’t so much an influencer as you are an entertainer.

Which is fine, most of us need some degree of entertainment. We just have vastly different expectations from someone who entertains us, versus someone we allow to influence us. The line between the two is thicker than you think.
